Censorship in Internet In many non-democratic countries there exist serious limits for network functioning, in other words access to definite sites (such as mass media, analytical, porno sites) or to all network is banished at a governmental level. As informational resources which can be inconvinient for non-democratic governments are present in Internet, the last ones declare Internet as meaning of mass media with all following limitations evasing international definition of Internet itself and sometimes their own laws. But we can also see state monopolozation of the connection to Internet network itself.
ChinaIn China works system «Great Firewall of China», blocking IP-addresses of sites with “doubtful contents”. But according to conditions of agreement with Chinese government results of search will be a little bit “limited”.
IranAccess to Wikipedia for users from Iran was closed at the 3rd of December 2006, simulteneously with other popular sites, for example, YouTube and IMDb. This blocking is considered to be connected with a country’s company developed against impact of Western culture.
CubaIn Cuba only doctors can use Worldwide Web, for other citizens this is prohibited at legislative level.
Nothern KoreaNothern Korea possess communicational channel with external Internet but inside of the country web-servers are not available; few sites, belonging to government of Nothern Korea, are physically located in other countries. Nevertheless, since 2004 in the country an electronic mail has existed, available to a limited number of people; there are no other kinds of public access to internet besides the only one Internet-cafe. At the same time there works an internal computer network of Nothern Korea “Kvanmen” which is not connected with external Internet.
