Semantic Web

In 1989 Tim Berners-Lee initiated the beginning of the Worldwide Web, having created language for representation and connection information, exchange data protocol and basic client – server software. By the moment when Berners-Lee founded in 1994 consortium W3C (World Wide Web Consortium, http://www.w3.org/2001/sw/) in Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), his main attention had been focused on making Web really intelligent.
Striving for intelligence appeared long before such beloved sites as SlashDot, The Onion and Gap.com (by the way, for somebody they may be not so interesting). From the BI (Business Intelligence) specialists’ and KM (Knowledge Management) point of view these sites are the sample of “scrappy” systems, researched and used for the one purpose – it can be assistance to technology development, commenting of events or retail sales. Such isolated systems present itself only “little islands of information“whatever goals their creators pursued. Main efforts of BI and KM specialists are directed on building bridges between such little islands. Thus it is implied that entire is more than sum of its contents and that acquiring of new different data sources widens platform for analysis and increases its reliability. Complete integration and discovering of relationships in integrated entire will be more fruitful than just casual addressing to other sources.
